Toyota L&F supported to fulfil this strategy. They took the challenge to reduce the time needed to unload and reload the ship, and streamline the yard operations accordingly. By doing so the port was able to reduce its costs and deal with the scarcity of labour, due to a declining birthrate and aging population.

Mister Kato, president of TCB: "Exceptional efficiency in these areas will further increase our international competitive edge and contribute to its development into the leading container terminal of Japan".

In total 33 vehicles were delivered, serving in total 6 quay cranes and 24 yard cranes. The port was officially opened in December 2005 and is fully operational since 2008. Toyota L&F was responsible for delivering the AGV’s, the remote operation room, the intersection barriers and the overall fleet management system.
